"Marcus
Andre's work induces sobriety and checks the urge to interpret.
Since the procedures seem close to the method and the method to
the core of the artist's thought, it would be sufficient to interpret
the procedures and by contiguity, the method and the thought,
thus reaching the poetic core of Marcus Andre's work. And this
work is, I believe, built upon two pillars: an ethic of the pictorial
work that is visually materialized in the process of its elaboration,
and the construction of painting as historical knowledge
even if this knowledge is preserved only in the ghetto of his
paintings. What has always been the role of art ever since it
was designated as a specific field of activity a quest
for excellence in works to serve as models for a culture
remains alive in Marcus Andre."
