"At
first these small boxes recall the paintings of Castagnetto, an
artist who produced mostly small seascapes at the turn of the
19th century. How could such a small-scale work paradoxically
contain so much space? I wanted to return to the issue of the
micro and the macro. There is an autonomy in each small painting,
but there are also relations between them, making up a whole.
In other words, there is a universe including all the works as
a whole and another where each part is seen in isolation. All
were done at the same time and none was rejected."
